Options
CitiSeat Specifications

All Seating shall be Freedman Seating CitiSeat or approved equal. Seats shall comply with all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. In addition, all seats shall comply with the following minimum requirements:

Seat Construction

  • The seat frame or shell materials shall be modular in design, having similar appearance for all forward facing, longitudinal, and flip seat models.
  • All seats shall be manufactured by a molding process which utilizes composite materials designed to withstand the demands of transit bus applications.
  • Coloring shall be consistent throughout the seat material.
  • All visually exposed metal shall be stainless steel or painted / powder coated steel. All seats shall be contoured for individual, lateral support and the maximum comfort of the passenger.
  • All frames shall be constructed of heavy-duty steel and shall be jig welded to insure maximum durability.
  • The seat, shell and cushion area shall be of contrasting colors. A series of concealed fasteners shall be provided to allow maintenance friendly changeabiltiliy for the insert pads.
  • A quick hooking clip system and a vandal resistant fastener shall be integrated for change out.
  • No sharp edges or edges which may snag or injure passengers shall be permitted. Seats shall be upholstered in a transit grade covering material as per customer specifications.
Forward Facing Seats
  • All forward facing seats (with the exception of the rear cross seats) shall incorporate an energy absorbing grab rail which is designed to facilitate access and egress from the passenger seats if applicable.
  • The underside of the seat shall be configured to minimize the accumulation of debris and to provide a transition from seat underside to the side of the wall.
  • All seats shall be mounted to the floor and to the wall by means of a "T" Pedestal or a Cantilevered support system.
  • The support system shall be accessible for ease of maintenance and installation.

Longitudinal Seats
  • Longitudinal seats shall be provided for each wheelhouse position.
  • The underside of the seat shall be configured to minimize the accumulation of debris and to provide a transition from seat underside to the side of the wall.
  • All seats shall be mounted to the floor and to the wall by means of a "T" Pedestal or a Cantilevered support system.
  • The support system shall be accessible for ease of maintenance and installation.

Flip Seats
  • Flip Seats shall be provided at each wheelchair seating position to allow ambulatory passengers to occupy the area when wheelchairs are not present.
  • The Flip mechanism must be user friendly.
  • The lock used to secure the seat shall be opened by means of a lever mounted under the Flip Seat.
  • The seat shall lock in the up and down position.
  • A low barrier or modesty panel with a stanchion shall be provided, if applicable.
  • All seats shall be mounted to the floor and to the wall by means of a "T" Pedestal or a Cantilevered support system.

Foldaway Seats
  • Seats shall be provided at each wheelchair seating position to allow ambulatory passengers to occupy the area when wheelchairs are not present.
  • The Foldaway mechanism must be user friendly.
  • The lock used to secure the seat shall be opened by means of a lever mounted under the seat.
  • The seat shall lock in the up and down position.
  • Folding seats shall be cantilevered, and mounted to the floor with 4 bolts.

Dimensions - Weight

The seat width shall be no less than 17 3/8"(single) or 34 3/4" (double). The back height shall be a minimum of 20" from the height of the back and a minimum 35 3/16" from the floor to the peak of the back. All seats shall be manufactured to provide a substantial weight reduction while incorporating all applicable safety standards. The maximum weight for a single passenger placement shall not exceed 25 pounds for the standard model. The maximum weight per a two passenger placement shall not exceed 45 pounds for the standard model.
