Project/Application Engineer
Freedman Seating, a growing manufacturing firm located on the west side of Chicago, is looking to hire an application/project engineer. Our Transit Engineering Group needs dedicated professionals to support the seating applications activities from receipt of order through vehicle life cycle. The ideal candidate will have strong project/program management and 3D design skills, and should be comfortable with a "hands on" work environment which is fast paced with deadline driven priorities.
We are a bus seat manufacturer and a leader in our industry. Our nearly 600 employees support 50% of the bus building industry with high quality seating. We often customize our products and are consistently expanding our product line.
You will work with a team of designers and other engineers. The specific job responsibilities are: - Design and development of product applications

Design seat mountings and accessories to meet regulations and customer requirements
- Develop and implement test and validation plans when required
- Work with vendors on purchased components as required
- Assist in build and evaluation of prototypes, internally and with the bus builder
- Work with members of engineering, sales, manufacturing, and purchasing to command
successful projects
Investigate and resolve internal and external customer complaints and requests
The skills that we would expect you to have include:
- 3D CAD (SolidEdge preferred)
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (will have interaction with customers, vendors and
other departments)
- Recent grad or 1-5 years experience in product design
It would be helpful if you also had:
- Experience with seat design and metal structure design
- Experience with ERP systems (M2M preferred)
