Certain fabrics require only "Spot Cleaning" due to the design for specific market applications including VR Seating. In order for maintaining proper care, LaFrance recommends the following methods be applied.
- Fabrics identified for "Spot Cleaning" are not suitable for general washing
or "off frame" dry cleaning processes.
- Cleaning solution should be mild water free solvent, or dry cleaning product
designed for this type of fabric application. Cleaning should take place with
adequate ventilation. Follow the cleaning directions of the manufacturer very
carefully.
- User should test cleaning solution used on a portion of fabric not obvious to
check for color change in dyed yarns prior to using in wholesale manner or
on soiled areas.
- Areas being cleaned should have only light circular motions used in applying
cleaning solution. These areas should be blotted as dry as possible with a clean, dry, white cloth immediately upon application; this will help eliminate color change and halo effect.
- For all Wool plush woven Jacquard fabrics, frequent vacuuming or light
brushing is the key to removing dust and grime. Pile fabrics, by nature, do not
show loose dirt and grime because it settles into the base of the pile. Frequent
cleaning will prevent the dirt and grime from being absorbed into the yarn
fiber.
- Hot water extraction/vacuum units may be used provided suction level and
water temperature (120° F maximum) is controlled. Over wetting and/or use
of harsh or excessive chemicals will harm the fabric. This method requires
trained operators and should be tested on a small area before proceeding.
